Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 13

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

Dan Mendoza returns for the one year anniversary of the ongoing series in a special issue written and drawn by the Zombie Tramp creator himself. As Janey makes her way to Florida for vengeance, she's offered a chance at forgiveness to one of those that wronged her and set her on her twisted path.

As anxious as I always am to read another issue of one of my favorite titles, this one was especially exciting.  It's crazy to think that it's already been a year since the ongoing series for Zombie Tramp, yet here we are.  What better way to celebrate with issue 13, complete with a wide assortment of covers to collect.

During her journey headed to Florida, Janey happens to run into one of the many people from her past that wronged her.  After being invited to his home, complete with wife who was equally as guilty for terrible deeds, the horror show begins.  It is page after page of revenge, day after day of pain, as Janey returns the favor for all that was done to her.  While it may not change what contributed to her current state of "living", it did offer a bit of closure, and also opened the door for more questions.

Wow.  With all the intense artwork in issues we have seen thus far, this is way up there.  As you'd expect with the anniversary issue, Dan himself provides all the gruesome visuals within.  It was fantastic to see him illustrate this book, and man did he deliver.

If you've never read any Zombie Tramp to this point, this is a hell of an issue to jump into.  It is undoubtedly one of the strongest, both in story, emotion and art.  Be prepared for some one of the issues that pushes the envelope the most.  Even if you don't grab all the variants like I will, just one copy will be worth the price.

Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 12

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 11:00 AM

In an effort to make it to Miami faster, Zombie Tramp takes to the air this time on a one-way ticket to chaos. Can Janey control her temper and her human form on a 6-hour flight full of annoyances?

Maybe. But add one more unexpected element to the mix and you’ve got yourself one angry zombie on a plane.

Snakes on a plane?  Not this time.  This time, it's zombie on a plane.  I've never seen the previously mentioned title, but I'm sure it doesn't hold up to this book.  It's hard to when you enjoy Zombie Tramp as much as I do, and still going strong 12 issues into Volume 3.

After the unexpected results of her attempt to teleport, Janey decides to resort to more conventional methods of travel.  Unfortunately, that means trying her patience with the regular assortment of undesirable neighbors on a long plane ride.  Although she gave it a good effort, her temper got the best of her and she flips out on what turns out to be a gremlin in disguise.  Meanwhile, we are introduced to what appears to be yet another new force in the mix, and possibly more powerful.

Compared to a lot of the other recent issues, this was a bit more toned down.  There was a bit of action and powers that we get to see illustrated, but nothing of huge mention.  As always, it's nice to see a new character design, and it'll be great to see more in upcoming issues.

With this newest arc starting, I'm excited to have another possible protagonist that is on Janey's level.  The hints we are left with at the end leave you itching just enough to want more.  Then again, Zombie Tramp usually does, although usually drooling.  That aside, it's looking like another cool storyline that you'll want to check out.

Zombie Tramp vs Vampblade 1

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

In a story too big to contain in the pages of her regular monthly series, fan-favorite undead anti-heroine Zombie Tramp breaks out into an all-new limited series that pits her against a new larger-than-life supernatural foe… Vampblade! Can Zombie Tramp hold her own against this new interdimensional weapon-wielding comic book bad girl brought to life, or has she met her sexy/crazy/cool match? Let the hair pulling and blood spilling begin!

No sooner am I talking about the spinoff series in a previous review do I get my hands on it.  Now that is good timing if there was any.  And good luck, as getting your hands on anything Zombie Tramp like the first issue of Zombie Tramp vs Vampblade is fantastic.

These two sexy, badass ladies of the supernatural have had their share of bad meetups.  This one tops them all, as Vampblade "rescues" a potential victim of vampire attacks.  Turns out that this poor little lady is Janey aka Zombie Tramp looking for her next meal.  After a rather one sided fight ensues, Janey tries to take over Vampblade's body to rather unexpected results.

As unusual as it is, the artwork this time featured virtually nothing in the way of guts and gore.  Or NSFW content, save for some gratuitous butt shots.  There was plenty of action, that's for sure, which was drawn just as nicely.  Just no queen of the undead boobies, but the short skirt made up for it.  Sort of.

I've mentioned before how much I love Zombie Tramp, quite frequently in fact.  As much as I obsess over Janey though, getting a new leading lady pitted against her is a welcome addition.  If you haven't read the main series up to now, do so right away, and then be sure to grab this as well.

Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 11

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

Zombie Tramp creates a flesh beast from cemetery inhabitants to do battle with the hulking meth monster that’s plagued her visit to Detroit; but will Motown’s supernatural defender Vampblade help Janey in her fight, or team-up against her? It’s a boneyard brawl of beasts and beauties, as Janey fights for her right to ease on down the road!

There has been a lot going on for our queen of the undead lately.  Between trying to deal with the uber zombie that's been after her, and the recent new player to the game Vampblade, Janey has her work cut out for her.  Apparently, there's not even any rest for the undead as we jump into issue 11 of Zombie Tramp.

Finally, we get a bit of resolution to the conflict between Janey and super zombie as she realizes he is in essence a part of her.  She is merciful, and more so, helps him get back at the drug lord who first screwed him over.  Just prior to getting that revenge, in typical Zombie Tramp fashion, Vampblade makes one more appearance, albeit a brief and fruitless one.  Right at the end, Janey tries her hand at a new skill, and amusingly enough, ends up right in the last place she'd want to be.

We get a little more Vampblade to check out, a lot more guts, and of course, some naughty Janey bits.  There were some pretty neat shots of hulk zombie that as gorey as they were, still did a good job of making you feel bad for the character.  Did I mention the naughty Janey bits?  Oh, yes, I did.  Yes, they're in there.

This issue actually serves as a closer to this current arc, and I'm really anxious to see what happens next.  I'm very curious as to what the implications are of Janey arriving where she did, and I look forward to the next Vampblade interaction.  If you haven't fallen for Janey by now, this is a prime time to do so before the next arc begins, as well as the Zombie Tramp/Vampblade mini series.

Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 10

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 11:00 AM

Zombie Tramp faces a new monster of her own creation, when a Detroit meth maker cooks up a batch of her undead bath salts! Meanwhile it's chaos in the streets as the new drug has users turning into tweaker zombies! Plus Motor City's own resident bad girl, Vampblade, cuts in on the action!

Start with the queen of the undead.  Mix in an unexpected after effect of her taking a bath.  Add new players to the assortment of paranormal.  Splash in the fact that the queen of the undead is hot, and that about sets you up for the tenth ongoing issue of Zombie Tramp.

After spotting some zombies on a rampage, and ones she did not create, Janey sets off to see what their deal is.  Upon arriving at the scene, the gargantuan of the two catches her scent and rushes her, furiously blaming her for his existence.  Before being pommeled though, newcomer Vampblade (from the last issue cameo) slices and dices into their meeting.  Later that evening, Janey lures in hulk zombie to get more answers, but even with her powers cannot contain him.

With more new characters in this issue, we had some great new artwork to enjoy.  Between the designs of the characters themselves, as well as a pretty sick face off at the end, it was another solid book.  I can't wait to see more of Vampblade in action in later issues.  Oddly, Janey was not as alluring as usual, save for some bikini action.  Not that I look forward to that or anything. *cough*

Things are really getting intense now with this new uber zombie that can hold his own, as well as the still fairly mysterious Vampblade.  I really look forward to learning more about her, and of course seeing another possible fight with the big guy and Janey.  If you're just starting from her, the last issue, or completely, this is setting up for more and should continue to be purchased.

Crimson Society Vol 1

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 11:00 AM

In the very near future, supernatural beings live among humans in peace, yet Jack Crimson finds his life as a werewolf frustrating, and wants nothing more than a cure. Desperate to free himself from this curse, he makes a series of decisions leading him down an unexpected path. Join Jack as he makes his way through this dark new world.

Vampires and werewolves, an age old battle that we've seen many a time in movies, books and comics.  What happens when you try to take these two monsters and integrate them with the human world?  The results are probably going to be messy, and volume one of Crimson Society shows us just how bad it could be.

Jack is a happily married man, trying to live out life as normally as possible being a werewolf, which strangely enough his amazing wife does her best to deal with.  This isn't good enough for Jack though, and goes to a doctor who claims to have a cure.  Lo and behold, this "doctor" just wants to use him for his experiments.  Rather than curing Jack, he changes him into a vampire killing machine with new superpowered arms (similar to something like the video game Prototype).  After a turn of events leads Jack to the evil that did this to him, a very dramatic ending opens up for a really great next volume.

This book was as full of excellent artwork as it was nonstop story goodness.  The overall illustrations and color work on this book were really killer and made it so much more enjoyable to read.  Character and monster designs all looked fantastic, and the way the blood and violence was done wasn't too over the top.  I really loved the way Jack's crazy new arms were drawn in all their various forms and look forward to seeing others.

Talk about one hell of a cliff hanger for a volume to finish on that just leaves you thirsting for more.  Thirsting, heh.  Seriously though, from start to finish I really enjoyed this book in both the story and the visuals.  No matter how overdone they may be, this book is a step apart from others in the genre and is one I'd totally say should be picked up.

Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 9

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 11:00 AM

Perfect jumping on point for new readers! Janey is back, fresh from a dirt nap, and continuing her cross-country quest. But when a bath in what appears to be an abandoned Detroit warehouse leaves rings in the tub, the meth chef resident cooks up a new drug... yep, it's Breaking Bath Salts! Plus a major character in an all-new upcoming ongoing monthly series makes her first ever full costume appearance!

As mentioned, this is a pretty great place to jump into the series if you've seen none of it.  As a big fan, I'd certainly say you should read all of the books that have come out so far.  But, if you're just looking for a intro to Zombie Tramp, Issue 9 is a great way to dive in.

Even zombie girls need their beauty rest, especially when they are as hot as Janey.  After a much needed dirt nap, the natural next step is a bath in the house of a druggie of course.  Then it gets really weird, as Janey's bath water ends up being the new drug craze (complete with real life bath salt reference).  All hell breaks loose from there, as you'd think.

Along with the usual artwork with blood and boobs that has been enjoyable from the start, we see some new pieces here.  Not only do we see some crazy new zombie designs, but at the very end we see a new mysterious character.  She's apparently going to be getting a new series, and this is our first full viewing of her look.

Both the ongoing story and the introduction to a new series character kept my interest as strong as always.  The bath salt thing was a bit overboard, but then again, the idea of a sexy zombie is as well right?  Like I said before, if you want to see Zombie Tramp for the first time, this is as good an issue as any.  For long time fans, it's more of the great book we've had all along.

Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 8

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 11:00 AM

As Zombie Tramp makes her way through the Southwest, she stops for a bite at a local fast food chain. It seems that ordering off the menu at this chicken joint can land you in the nugget grinder though, so Janey will have to wield her budding necro powers well if she wants to stay undead! Janey’s prize possession, her copy of the Necronomicon that helps her blend in and survive as an undead zombie tramp amongst the living, has gone missing. Now can she retrieve the book even though its new owner stirs long lost feelings as well?

I have to tell you, when I opened up my first issue I didn't know what to expect.  Then I opened another, and another, and I found myself quite the fan.  I never thought I'd get into Zombie Tramp so much, but it totally grew on me.  Eight issues in with the ongoing series, and I am still very much intrigued by Janey.

The undead road trip continues, and Janey is on the hunt for her Necronomicon.  Lucky for her, it has landed in the hands of a nerd who manages to summon her right to it.  He actually reminds her of someone from her past, and after a unusually emotional flashback tale, this nerd is in the for night of his life.  No good deed goes unpunished as Janey finds out the next morning, but in typical Zombie Tramp fashion, she makes sure his bad deed is harshly punished.

Most of this issue goes without the usual gore and spends its time illustrating pretty normal scenes.  That is, normal with the exception of a completely naked zombie hottie.  But, an issue of Zombie Tramp would probably be weird without any blood and guts, which are drawn as gross as always in the best way.

There really should be no shock factor with Zombie Tramp by now if you've stuck with it this far.  And even Janey deserves some Valentines love right?  She does as far as I'm concerned and also deserves to have this issue of her book bought by all you fellow nerds on your next trip to the shop.

Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 7

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

As Zombie Tramp makes her way through the Southwest, she stops for a bite at a local fast food chain. It seems that ordering off the menu at this chicken joint can land you in the nugget grinder though, so Janey will have to wield her budding necro powers well if she wants to stay undead!

Normally I wouldn't start with a disclaimer, but I figured I would just get it out of the way.  I have been trying to keep up with the ongoing series, but alas I fell short on the last couple issues.  As such, Zombie Tramp #7 does have me jumping in with a bit of a story gap, but eager nonetheless to read.

After her battle in Sin City, it appears Janey has been continuing on her road trip, leaving plenty of carnage behind her.  Making a quick stop at a fast food restaurant, she uses her sexy, albeit illusioned body, to acquire a snack from her own personal menu.  Back on the road after, she finds herself captured and for some reason being prepared to be turned into zombie nuggets.  Once again, she shows off the extent of her powers and manages to barely escape.

As many of these as I've read now, there always manages to be another surprise in the next issue.  The artwork has been consistently good, with all the guts and gore you'd expect from a zombie comic, with one particular scene this time really showing off just how gross it can get.  There was also a lot more of Janey shown off than I think I've seen before on internal pages, so heads up on that (or selling point perhaps?).

I have been a pretty solid fan of Zombie Tramp ever since I first got into it.  Lately I've found myself growing to be an even bigger fan, going so far as to seek out rare issues online.  As one would expect, especially this round, it is not a book for those with a weak stomach.  Otherwise, I would more than pass this along as a new read to anyone.

Holy Fuck 1

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 12:00 PM

Why is a nun barging into a seedy Tokyo karaoke bar in the middle of the night to find a sleazy naked man smoking meth? Because that man is Jesus, and Sister Maria needs him to help her and Satan stop humanity’s mythological gods from f*cking up the Earth.

Just when I thought I saw just about everything, Action Lab proves me wrong.  Their Danger Zone has produced some really crazy titles, and I mean that in the best way.  One of my favorites over the last year is part of it in fact.  And yet again, they push the envelope and the new mini series Holy Fuck pushes it without any hesitation at all.

The first issue sets up the story with a not so typical portrayal of the son of God on a mission to stop an apocalypse.  This particular ending of the world happens to be a scheme of gods from other religions, beliefs, etc.  With a devout nun as his so to speak handler, Jesus sets off to save the world.  Right after they recruit Satan to help of course.

The artwork here was a bit iffy for me.  It had moments where it had some really nice stuff, but overall it wasn’t anything spectacular.  The art was in no way bad per se, but the style here just didn’t really appeal to me personally in any way.

As is no surprise with most anything from Danger Zone, this is not a tame title at all.  There is plenty here that is going to be downright offensive to people.  I’m probably not going to be seeking out further issues, but I certainly can’t stop you from taking a look at this wacky series.

Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 4

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 9:00 AM

As Zombie Tramp stirs up trouble in Sin City she catches the attention of its most legendary resident, The King! The problem is he “left the building” three decades ago--so what kind of undead monster sits on the throne now? It’s a buffet of all out high-stakes reanimated action!

The awaiting showdown has come in our journey with the lady of the night in zombie mode.  In case that premise completely throws you off, now would be a good time to hit your store and catch up.  I’m hoping though, that you are aware by now that I’d be referring to Janey aka Zombie Tramp.  Will what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas or is it time for Janey to check out?

With all the majority of zombie Elvis’ minions out of the way, the moment for our super powered zombie faceoff has arrived.  It is do or die for Janey.....wait scratch that.  It’s kill or be killed?  You get the point right?  Our lusty undead girl has to take big bad down, and he has shown that he will not go down easy.  Showing off her strengths once again, she serves him a big old plate of Vegas payback.

Taking on the King for the finale gave the artist another great opportunity to show us their stuff.  The nonstop fight scenes kept the pace fluid all the way to the last blow.  As you’d imagine, this last battle has no shortage of violence and body parts, illustrated in all its nasty glory.  Yet somehow, by the end Janey is as appealing as always.  For a zombie that is.

Wrapping up the first arc for Zombie Tramp’s ongoing books, I’ve definitely enjoyed them overall.  It’s a morbidly fun story quite unlike anything else, especially for the genre.  Although familiarity with Janey might be nice, it isn’t necessary to have seen  anything prior to her arrival in Sin City.  With this now a regular series, grab these four issues and get going before the next arc starts.

Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 3

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 11:00 AM

Zombie Tramp has fallen in with the wrong crowd in her adventure to Las Vegas… specifically, the undead clutches of the king of Sin City’s sex trade. Now she’s being forced to wed the jump-suited monster of a man in a private ceremony at the Grand Canyon! But in this unholy wedding, “Til death” is just the start.

Now three issues into the anticipated (at least for me) ongoing series, if you aren’t used to the idea of a sexy undead call girl, you probably never will be.  It’s honestly still an amusing concept to me, and I’ve read it since the start.  As funny as the premise is, Zombie Tramp still manages to retain a dark, serious tone to it if you can believe that.

Our Zombie Tramp Janey is not one to let people push her over, at least since she’s been undead.  A zombie Elvis is no exception, and she wants nothing to do with being his bride in the afterlife.  Having to fend off against his cronies to escape, we get to see even more of Janey’s impressive powers.  In the end though, The King is stronger than she expected and we’re left wondering how she’s going to get away.

With so much fighting in this issue, there’s no shortage of nicely illustrated action panels.  Along with this of course, is plenty of gnarly gore to go with it.  I believe I said it before, but getting to see this book in full color was something it really deserved.  On a side note, I think this month’s cover design is probably my favorite so far.

As the first arc for the regular series coming to a close, I’m definitely enjoying how it’s been going so far.  I never expected a zombie title quite like this, and the direction they’ve gone is really engaging.  It’s not too late to grab onto this title while the undead are still fairly fresh.  Well, you know what I mean.  This is a good book to pick up, so do it soon.

Itty Bitty Bunnies In Rainbow Pixie Candy Land Save X-Mas

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

Itty Bitty Bunnies creator and cartoonist extraordinaire Dean Rankine lives down under, where Christmas is celebrated in the summer, so it makes perfect sense for his depraved creations to go on a holiday adventure now stateside. It also makes sense to the Bunnies to cook up a big batch of meth to help fund their Yuletide activities!

In between all the many books of fantasy adventures, sci-fi epics and superheroes it's inevitable to run into off the wall titles.  Off the wall, crazy, completely bizarre, among many other things.  That's pretty much what Itty Bitty Bunnies is, and that insanity continues with their latest in Itty Bitty Bunnies In Rainbow Pixie Candy Land Save X-Mas.

Compared to my last encounter with the Bunnies, this new book has a bit more of an actual story.  At least, as clear of a story as you can get with them.  Throughout their attempt to try and rescue Christmas, we yet again see a multitude of pop culture references and of course, drug induced stupidity.  I certainly appreciated the Breaking Bad throwback in particular, even if it had to be in this book.

The trippy, psychedelic artwork that represents just that kind of story continues here.  It's not bad per se, but it's not spectacular either.  It's appropriate to the kind of book that this is and does what it needs to.

Of all the Danger Zone books I've read, this one would probably have to be the one that takes most advantage of the Mature rating.  There's really no limit to the disgusting, inappropriate and just generally wrong that goes on with these two.  If that's fine by you, go ahead and grab it.  Otherwise, it may be a bit much.

Zombie Tramp Vol 3 Issue 2

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 9:00 AM

She used to be Hollywood’s hottest high priced call girl.  Then a bite from an undead client changed her into something deadly different.  Now she searches for answers.  Janey Belle is the...Zombie Tramp.  It's kinky supernatural fun as Zombie Tramp hits the road, starting in... Sin City of course!

There’s no question that the Danger Zone from Action Lab takes its name seriously.  If you’re not ready to see titles that push the envelope, then you’ll want to slowly back away.  In the event you’re willing to take the chance and be rewarded with the chance to read great books, Zombie Tramp is one of the many you can check out.  Now with an ongoing series, there’s bound to be plenty of envelope pushing in store for you.

After the previous adventures of Janey aka “Zombie Tramp”, we now see her moving on to Sin City.  Of all the places the story could move to for an undead lady of the night, this is amusingly enough probably the most appropriate.  I am missing out on a small piece of the current situation from issue 1 (which I will have to pick up), but as of this book we see her being hunted for some reason.  That reason is as we find out, well, the apparent zombie of Elvis.  Or perhaps it’s just an impersonator.  Either way, this King is just as undead as Janey and seeking her eternal company.

Now that this hit title is ongoing, we get the pleasure of seeing the cool artwork more regularly – and in color!  The previous volumes were not of any less quality without the color, but getting to enjoy the book with that added element makes it all the better.  There wasn’t a whole lot of gore in this issue, but I have no doubt it will look much gnarlier with full color in the book.

If you didn’t jump onto Zombie Tramp previously, now’s a great time to do so with the monthly series in full swing.  I’m definitely glad to see it made it to that status, and would suggest getting aboard the zombie train before it gets too far.  For those afraid that it’s just another zombie story, let me reassure you it is most certainly not and is worth reading.

Itty Bitty Bunnies in Rainbow Pixie Candy Land

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

Take some time for an adventure to a magical world with two cute bunnies… two foul mouthed, drug using, butt-naked bunnies that go on adorably offensive, insultingly hilarious adventures! Your journey into off-color fun begins here, with this mix of Adventure Time and underground comix!

As many comics as I check out, there’s bound to be one that I’m going to read and wonder what just passed before my eyes.  One of those books that will make you chuckle and blankly stare at almost equally.  That is precisely what kind of title that Itty Bitty Bunnies in Rainbow Pixie Candy Land is through and through.

It’s hard to describe exactly what happens in Itty Bitty Bunnies, as there really is no “story” per se.  For the most part, it’s basically a wacky drug induced adventure riddled with pop culture references and a excess of Mature Reader content.  It really is almost like taking Adventure Time and popping a big old R rating on it.

The artwork is as unusual as the comic, but not in the sense that it’s bad.  The style is something I’ve seen from time to time, even being used in cartoons these days.  With a strange book like this it is more than fitting and gets the job done of visually telling the story.

Maybe I’m just getting too old for stuff like this which harps back to the good old days of Ren and Stimpy.  I was never much of a fan honestly, so that probably didn’t help with my interest in this book.  For those that were or just enjoy way over the top nonsensical and crass, this is right up your alley.  Or gutter.

Dry Spell 1

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

Tom Ferris lives in a world of costumes and wonder.  Figures streaking across the sky, hurling themselves over rooftops at night.  They are everywhere.  They are common.  But Tom doesn't notice that world anymore.  His world is made up of spreadsheets, phone bills, software, coffee, collared shirts.
When a coworker takes an interest in Tom, a chain of events begins to unfold...

Imagine what it must be like to have super powers, and the life you lead holding such responsibility if you chose to use them for good.  What happens if you wanted out though and just desired to live normally day to day?  If you actually managed to escape the spotlight, what would happen if you got dragged back in?  These are just the kind of questions that Dry Spell looks to give answers to.

Poor guy just wanted to be an average Joe, or average Tom if you will.  He somehow pulled it off and has stayed under the radar for quite some time.  All this pans out until a curious coworker with a good eye catches on to who Tom is, or was at least.  Urging him to meet up with others like themselves, a downward spiral begins that he may not be able to get out of.

The artistic approach that the first issue has gone with is interesting.  Most of the book you’ll see the pages use a very monotone scheme, but not black and white.  There were a few choice pages that had a vibrant color assortment, and that was a great decision.

I’ve always appreciated taking the usual superhero scenario and coming at it from a different direction.  This first issue has done a nice job setting up a whirlwind of events as Tom’s plan to stay away from that part of his life crumbles.  I’d most definitely suggest grabbing this book and seeing just where it goes.

Zombie Tramp & Ehmm Theory: Danger Zone FCBD

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 1:00 PM

Are you bold enough to take a ride with Janey, the Zombie Tramp?!? If you pick her up, she might just share the story of how she came to be the street walking dead!! Be brave so you can be ready for her all new series following this special issue! You also get a mind shattering sneak preview from the second volume of the coolest comic series you haven't read yet... Ehmm Theory!

Free Comic Book Day plus Action Labs plus double feature comic?  That’s one hell of a combination as far as I’m concerned.  Even if we just had just a Zombie Tramp or Ehmm Theory mini, I’d have been fine getting that.  Give us a little bit of both in one free comic though, and you’ve got a great little book to break folks into the Danger Zone.

Our first half offers up a short look into our undead call girl and what she’s been up to in recent months.  For anyone who hasn’t read any of Zombie Tramp, you’ll get a nice tidbit into her history and some of the events leading up to her current situation.  Wrap that up with a plethora of blood and gore with boobs and glamour, and it’s another day in Janey’s, uh, afterlife leading into Volume 3.

Part two has us jumping into one of the many multidimensional adventures of Gabriel and his talking cat.  I’ve only had a small look into this title, but it looks like they’re keeping it just as crazy as ever.  This is a good thing for this title, especially when you include tiny zombies, Saint Peter and who knows what else.  I can only imagine what they have in store for Volume 2 based on this preview.

For those unlucky (hopefully) few who haven’t read any Action Lab, and more so their Danger Zone subsection, this was a good chance to do so.  If you didn’t happen to snag a copy of this, perhaps a friend managed to score one.  Otherwise, these are both great titles worth picking up and following.

Zombie Tramp Vol. 2

Posted by Katie on 8:00 AM

She used to be Hollywood’s hottest high priced call girl.  Then a bite from an undead client changed her into something deadly different.  Now she searches for answers.  Janey Belle is the...Zombie Tramp.

One might immediately be thrown off by the concept of a book like this.  I mean, let’s be honest, it’s a very risqué topic to write a comic about.  Having read enough titles from the Danger Zone courtesy of Action Labs, I was confident that Zombie Tramp would be good.  In the end, this confidence proved to be right.

This is certainly outside the box for a zombie book.  Granted, there have been a multitude of variations to the popular genre, but this is one of the most unique I’ve seen lately.  You’d think that it would just be boobs and gore, but it seems to be leading to more.  But if that’s all you’re looking to see for whatever bizarre reason, you’ll definitely get that.

This issue features our undead lady of the night, and a mysterious girl who can somehow communicate with her.  This is quite an unusual pairing for sure, but this story of revenge and seeking answers could be interesting.  Without any back story to go off of, new readers might find themselves lost.  Even so, with this being my initial peek to the story, it was intriguing enough to want to read on.

The visuals within the book are a nice blend of primarily greyscale art and color splashed in to make it pop.  Even with the previously mentioned boobs and gore present, they aren’t overdone.  It’s strange to think that you could make a zombie call girl sexy, but Mendoza pulls it off well.

It’s no shock that this book won’t really be up everyone’s alley.  Thus far, Danger Zone has not disappointed, and they are keeping that alive with this next volume.  Once you can get past the ideas the title puts in your head, it’s a fun read that you should check out.
