Why is a nun barging into a seedy Tokyo karaoke bar in
the middle of the night to find a sleazy naked man smoking meth? Because that
man is Jesus, and Sister Maria needs him to help her and Satan stop humanity’s
mythological gods from f*cking up the Earth.
Just when I thought I saw just about everything, Action
Lab proves me wrong. Their Danger Zone
has produced some really crazy titles, and I mean that in the best way. One of my favorites over the last year is
part of it in fact. And yet again, they
push the envelope and the new mini series Holy Fuck pushes it without any
hesitation at all.
The first issue sets up the story with a not so typical
portrayal of the son of God on a mission to stop an apocalypse. This particular ending of the world happens
to be a scheme of gods from other religions, beliefs, etc. With a devout nun as his so to speak handler,
Jesus sets off to save the world. Right
after they recruit Satan to help of course.
The artwork here was a bit iffy for me. It had moments where it had some really nice
stuff, but overall it wasn’t anything spectacular. The art was in no way bad per se, but the
style here just didn’t really appeal to me personally in any way.
As is no surprise with most anything from Danger Zone,
this is not a tame title at all. There
is plenty here that is going to be downright offensive to people. I’m probably not going to be seeking out
further issues, but I certainly can’t stop you from taking a look at this wacky
series.
