Irresistible Wrap Up

Posted by Katie on 11:49 AM

Being the object of every woman’s desire is every guy’s dream, or at least that’s what Allen Keeg thought.  Now, he’s seeing the darker side of this desire and sets out to put a stop to it before it becomes too much for him to handle.  Read the conclusion to the stellar new series by writer Raven Gregory.  It’s irresistibly good!

Things are really getting out of hand for Allen Keeg.  After seeing the extent these women are willing to go to be with him, Allen now goes in search of the old woman who bestowed this supposed gift upon him.  After discovering what he must do in order to end the curse, Allen is now at a crossroads.  No matter which path he takes, a sacrifice will have to be made.  Only Raven Gregory is able to turn every guy’s greatest fantasy into their worst nightmare.  These last two issues really show the extreme side of being irresistible.  I mean, it’s gotta be a pain not being to go anywhere without every woman in the vicinity wanting to tackle you, so to speak.

Issue three is where things really start going downhill for Allen.  I liked how even though he has all of these women practically throwing themselves at him, he still only really wants to be with the one that got away.  I think it’s because it has a bit of a Y: The Last Man vibe to it that I’m drawn to it.  Don’t get me wrong those are two separate pieces of work, but to me personally it just feels like a slight homage.

The ending for the fourth issue I think is what I enjoyed the most.  He gets a sense of closure after everything he had been through, all just so he could feel wanted again.  It’s just such a fitting end to the series and not one you’d expect when you first read issue one.  If you gotta go though, I mean what a way to go.

In all honesty, there really wasn’t anything I didn’t like about either one of these issues.  The story was just that good that I didn’t find myself wanting for much.  Raven has put together quite series here and these two issues really bring it all together.  I’m very happy with what I read.  The only real problem I had was that the series is over already.

Issues three and four of Irresistible are a great polar opposite to how the series began.  They show how some things really are too good to be true.  Raven Gregory continues his impressive streak of sensational storytelling.  I definitely recommend grabbing these issues.  Like I said before, a fitting end to an amazing series.  For more info on where to pick these up, visit the Zenescope website or the Zenescope Facebook page.

Irresistible #2

Irresistible continues...

Mr. Keeg is living it up with his new found bravado, but he will soon see what can happen when people love you to death.

So, things are finally starting to look up for Allen Keeg.  No longer is he scoffed at by women, but is deeply desired by every single one he comes across.  Unfortunately, that doesn’t seem to be enough for Allen, which he realizes shortly before things take a turn for the worse.  This tale of heart-break and hot moments, slowly takes a turn towards a much darker tone, as many of Raven Gregory’s stories are akin to do.  This just goes to show that being woman’s deepest desire may not be all it’s cracked up to be.

Now, don’t get me wrong I really do enjoy the dark turns Raven’s stories tend to take.  It keeps the story more grounded in reality because as most people know, there really aren’t such things as happy endings and more often than not, some things really are too good to be true.  A hard lesson Allen will soon be rather privy to.

In all honesty, there really wasn’t much of anything that I didn’t like about this issue.  Everything just seemed to flow so well that at times it seemed as though this all actually happened to someone.  A word of warning however, as this issue tends to stray into the R-rated territory.  Not that I’m complaining mind you.

All-in-all, this book is a definite must-buy, especially if you enjoyed the first one.  There’s no resisting the fact that this is some fine writing here.  Use caution though, as many people have been known to fall madly in love with this issue.  For more info on this series and where to pick it up, visit the Zenescope website or the Zenescope Facebook page.

Irresistible #1

Allen Keeg was your average middle age heart-broken sap who just went through the worst break up in his life. That was a year ago. Since then, Allen's been having trouble getting back into the swing of things. But all that's about to change. When Allen saves an old woman from being mugged, he will be given an amazing supernatural ability that will change his whole life. But is the gift of being irresistible to every woman he meets a gift or a dreadful curse?

Raven Gregory does it again with this tale of a man just wanting to feel loved again.  Who hasn’t found themselves in this scenario before?  Every guy the world over, despite what they may say, just wants to be the object of every woman’s eye.  So, when nice-guy Allen finally catches this break, you can’t help but feel happy for him and maybe even a little jealous.

One of the best things this book has going for it is how well it handles this situation.  You can really tell the writer has experienced a similar scenario at some point in his life, which really makes Allen that much more realistic.  Another point is the art style.  The look and feel of each page just seemed so true-to-life and not so exaggerated like a lot of comics out there.  The subdued colors also helped to ground the story into realism.

My main problem with this issue though is that some of the dialogue seemed a little forced and unnatural at times, but not so much to the point that it brought me completely out of the story.

All-in-all, I really enjoyed this book.  If you’re looking for a good love story with a supernatural twist, I highly recommend picking up Irresistible.  For more information on where you can pick up this and other great titles by Raven Gregory, visit the Zenescope website or the Zenescope Facebook page.
