Irresistible #1

Allen Keeg was your average middle age heart-broken sap who just went through the worst break up in his life. That was a year ago. Since then, Allen's been having trouble getting back into the swing of things. But all that's about to change. When Allen saves an old woman from being mugged, he will be given an amazing supernatural ability that will change his whole life. But is the gift of being irresistible to every woman he meets a gift or a dreadful curse?

Raven Gregory does it again with this tale of a man just wanting to feel loved again.  Who hasn’t found themselves in this scenario before?  Every guy the world over, despite what they may say, just wants to be the object of every woman’s eye.  So, when nice-guy Allen finally catches this break, you can’t help but feel happy for him and maybe even a little jealous.

One of the best things this book has going for it is how well it handles this situation.  You can really tell the writer has experienced a similar scenario at some point in his life, which really makes Allen that much more realistic.  Another point is the art style.  The look and feel of each page just seemed so true-to-life and not so exaggerated like a lot of comics out there.  The subdued colors also helped to ground the story into realism.

My main problem with this issue though is that some of the dialogue seemed a little forced and unnatural at times, but not so much to the point that it brought me completely out of the story.

All-in-all, I really enjoyed this book.  If you’re looking for a good love story with a supernatural twist, I highly recommend picking up Irresistible.  For more information on where you can pick up this and other great titles by Raven Gregory, visit the Zenescope website or the Zenescope Facebook page.
