Reflections TPB

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

Collecting Marvel’s Reflections series from multiple-Eisner-nominated creator David Mack. This format shows off to full effect this gorgeous collection of Daredevil, Alias, and Kabuki cover paintings, drawings, and step-by-step art processes.

Readers have been waiting for an art-book collection of Mack’s work for years, and this volume delivers with loads of extras!

When I last had an opportunity to check out a collection of work from David Mack, it was quite the experience.  While I had seen his stuff on occasion here and there, I'd never really sat down to any considerable amount of his stuff.  So, being able to do so again with the Reflections TPB gave me another fantastic chance to enjoy his art.

Let me tell you, this book is absolutely massive with over 300 pages of such an amazing collection of artwork for David Mack.  There's just everything in here, from sketchbooks, to sculptures and even things like photography.  As with the last book I read, we even get to step back into his mind as a child with drawings from his youth.  And of course, inside there is plenty of content from his work on comics like Kabuki which should make fans happy to see.

To quote something from the foreword, this book is like a collection of "experiments in inspiration".  The large number of pieces jammed into these pages has to in some way hit your artistic nerve.  As I flipped through each new part of his creative world, I was left in a state of wonder and awe.

For anyone that has followed his work for all these years or just looking for a spark of artistic flow, this is a winning buy.  This is undoubtedly a perfect book to have within arms reach to skim through and find that inspiration.  I would completely suggest buying this for those with an artistic mind as it will serve you well for years to come.
