Pop TPB

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 2:00 PM

What if the world’s pop stars and celebrities were literally products, grown by the world’s wealthiest (i.e., most depraved) minds—and one of them escaped?

Certain things in science like human cloning have always been a very shady topic.  There's just certain lines that we really shouldn't cross like that.  As unlikely as it is (or so we'd hope), what if certain people were actually grown?  The world that we read about in Pop is one where such a crazy thing is a reality.

Elle was born to be a pop star.  Literally.  Or more accurately, she was one of many people created in a terrible facility growing other pop stars and celebrities.  Through circumstances which are explained at the end, she escapes and as you'd imagine, the people running the facility want her back.  After being kindly rescued and taken care of by Coop, the two both find themselves being hunted down.  The end is something that should be experienced yourself and I'll leave that a mystery.

Oh wow, the artwork.  The best way I can describe the art style is trippy as hell.  Both the drawings themselves and the colors are what I'd imagine a drug induced haze to be like.  The visuals are seriously just insane, in the best sense of the word.  For this crazy kind of story though, they are an absolutely perfect fit to the book.

The way that this story came together in both the writing and the artwork to give such a striking book were spectacular.  I really enjoyed the concept itself in both it's originality and the approach.  I'd say this is a well worthy title of adding to your checklist.
