Comic Geek Speak

The cast/crew:
Bryan Deemer, Peter Rios, Shane Kelly, Jamie D, Matt, Adam "Murd" Murdough and Brian "Pants" Christman.

Comic Geek Speak (CGS) was started in March 2005 when Bryan and Peter decided to try their hand at the then-new world of podcasting. They quickly invited their friends to join them and then the show was complete.

 CGS initially released one or two episodes a week, but before long they were cranking out three. Nowadays, the CGS crew produces daily episodes (Monday through Friday) ranging from regular episodes to more focused episodes, such as Footnotes, World of Toys or Exploring Bede.

CGS is far more than just a few friends in a room with microphones. CGS is now a worldwide community of comic fans that helps to foster and grow the love of comics that is vital to the industry's success.

The Good:
There is a lot that is good about this podcast group/site.
The Comic Geek Speak website is very well put together. There isn't anything confusing about the website. It's very user friendly. To listen to a particular podcast they give you a Categories section that lists a multitude of topics that they cover. From comics and conventions to movie/tv reviews, just to name a few. The podcasts are done with respect to staying as positive as humanly possibly while being honest about why they do not like something. They do a great job of breaking down the key issues (both good and bad) that they have with a book, tv series etc. Rarely do they talk over one another. They speak very clearly and since they do not interrupt each other, you as the listener, get to hear the entire conversation. These are intelligent men speaking as such. They bring up very good points and stay on topic. They are serious about what they talk about but are also light hearted and joke around with one another very well also. They let you know if  a book is a buy, sell or borrow. So, they could potentially be helping you save some money!

The Bad:
They seem to be a bit lost or in question when they talk about Marvel. Whereas they seem to be more confident and knowledgeable of  DC. A lot of the comic book reviews revolve around the "top 2/big 2 companies". For a lot of people that isn't even really a bad thing. I have to pick something though and that's all that comes to mind as far as saying anything bad about this podcast. They still have plenty of other content that they review too. I would enjoy a bit more of the comic book reviews to be from Indie comic labels. Especially since they really break down the comics that they read and review page by page.

Summary:
I strongly suggest checking these guys out. Like I said in the good, these guys could potentially be helping you save some money! The podcast are very easy to listen to. Nothing ever gets convoluted or too confusing in their discussions. They bring up great points in almost all of their discussions both comic book related and other. I won't say too much in my personal summary here because I said plenty in the good and I'm not trying to talk your ears off. Just go to comicgeekspeak.com and gives this group of comic geeks a try!
