Wonderland 28

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 11:00 AM

A little girl is missing in Wonderland and and it’s the White Queen’s duty to find her. Calie, Dark Cheshire, and the White Rabbit trek deep into the treacherous woods of Wonderland, unaware they are being watched.  Meanwhile, back on Earth, an evil tainted by Wonderland grows more and more powerful.

In this issue we find Calie, along with the Cheshire Cat and the White Rabbit, still out looking for the lost little girl.  However, what they find isn’t a little girl, but a wild-looking, young boy with no great desire to cooperate with Calie.  As the boy runs off, Calie’s concern returns to the savage stalking about throughout the jungle and the safety of the girl they have yet to find.  Calie hasn’t been Queen of Wonderland for very long and already she has more problems than she can handle.  With the growing threat of this savage, the daily concerns of Wonderland and a new evil brewing on Earth, she certainly has her hands full.

The thing I took away from this issue wasn't a like or dislike of anything in particular, but a theme I sensed throughout.  The biggest focus was that of the paternal instinct.  We see it in Calie as she tries to relate to the boy about her own daughter and we see the darker side of it with the extremes the surgeon goes through to help his ailing sons.  It’s one of the strongest and most volatile instincts in nature and Erica J. Heflin has presented both ends of the spectrum for our consideration.  Calie has played the role of both daughter and mother, so it’s no surprise that this is her go to reaction when she encounters a child.  The series has continued to be a solid read and I’d recommend picking up this issue as it leads up to a brand new evil unlike anything Calie has encountered before.

With all of the terrors that still occupy the wilds of Wonderland, it’s looking less and less likely that Calie will ever find the missing little girl.  However, if history has told us anything, it’s that Calie always manages to persevere, but is she ready for what’s to come?  Grab this issue and witness the makings of a new villain to terrorize Calie.  For more info on where to find this issue, visit the Zenescope website, or the Zenescope Facebook page.
