Oh, Killstrike 2

Killstrike and Jared travel to New York City to visit the comic book company his father was employed with before his disappearance. While waiting for the meeting, Killstrike gives Jared a few lessons on being a "tough guy."

Oh, Killstrike keeps the satire right on rolling, as Jared dreams of his wife and child being jammed into kitchen appliances by his one time hero.  Fortunately for them, it’s just a dream.  Jared, however, is still stuck with the loud-mouthed, arrogant juggernaut looking for vengeance, mayhem and chaos.  The story devolves from into the typical anarchy we’ve come to expect, with rippling pecks and the occasional spree of mass destruction.

And yet, and yet, the deeper story also continues.  Through Jared, Bemis and Faerber continue their ongoing (and all too true) rant about their contempt for the mainstream comic industry.   Fans of the titans aren’t spared much in the way of pundits either, but at the end of the issue, it’s clear that it is all meant to be tongue in cheek.

Oh, Killstrike is funny, irreverent and a bit caustic.  It’s not for everyone, but if you can take a joke and don’t mind a little savagery aimed at the publications you love, this is a fine series.
