In the final issue of Garfield: His 9 Lives, Frazer Irving brings us the scary story of Lab Cat, and Garfield veteran Genevieve FT takes Garfield into the future with Space Cat!
This has been a really fun trip (through time!) while it's lasted, but all good things must come to an end. As long as he's been around, Garfield is still entertaining fans of all ages with new stories and even a movie within recent years. In this final
In the last book, we follow along with two very interesting versions of Garfield. The first was quite an unexpected horror type story as Lab Cat, which shows him as an unfortunate victim of lab testing. Then in the final incarnation, we journey into the stars with his life as space pirate Ace Nova and a clearly Star Wars-esque setting. The references you find are really quite amusing.
Without a doubt, of all the books, the artwork for this book had the most striking differences of any of the others. This was especially true for the style and even design for Garfield in the Lab Cat story, unlike anything I would have thought to be in one of his comics. It was a great choice for this type of story though, so it was well placed.
The way that this mini-series ended was absolutely perfect. It's so perfect that I can't risk even giving any clues as to how it did end without ruining it. So, I'll simply leave you with a strong suggestion to pick this and the other three books up for a wonderful little journey through Garfield's other 8 lives.
