Gronk: A Monster's Story Vol 1

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

Gronk is a monster... and not a very good one. Follow Gronk's adventures as she leaves the monster world and joins up with her new family! Enjoy the first year's worth of comics from this popular, all-ages webcomic in a wonderful, full color collection!

There are so many gems out there in the massive world of webcomics, only a few of which I've ever read to be honest.  As great as it is to follow along with them as it comes out, it can be just as enjoyable to get a whole grouping of them.  With the first volume of Gronk: A Monster's Story, I got to see the entire first year in one fun sitting.

As this is not your typical comic but rather a collection of short webcomics, there's no singular storyline.  It starts off with Gronk, the monster who's terrible at being a monster realizing she doesn't belong in that world.  Once she stumbles upon "our" world and finds a home with Dale and her pets.  There, Gronk is finally happy, and the multitude of funny, loving and often geeky stories begin.

If you're not familiar with the other work that Katie Cook is known for, then you're in for a boatload of cute.  Naturally, a story as endearing as this should have adorable, cartoony artwork.  That is precisely what Katie delivers in each and every block of these stories.  Complimenting her wonderful illustrations, Kevin Minor really brings them to life with his bright color work.

Getting the chance to see a new webcomic like Gronk in collected form is a nice way to really get a feel for a new title to read.  After thoroughly enjoying all of the ones in this first volume, I'd love to follow along weekly (or however often they're posted).  This is a wonderful book for all readers, and should certainly be on your purchase list.  Then you can check out the rest of the webcomic afterwards!
