Neverboy 1

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

This review is going to start off quite differently than how I normally would.  Typically, I'd start you off with the summary the publisher provided, but in this case, the spoilers would absolutely ruin the story.  And let me tell you, the story of Neverboy is one that at least in the first issue should be enjoyed without knowing anything ahead of time.

Now, the challenge of trying to give you at least some information on the story.  It's a pretty basic premise of an average day for a man along with his wife and son.  That evening, they all head to the talent show at his boy's school.  Right before his son gets ready to start though, that's where everything starts to go awry.  Then, at the very end, the whole story, every detail that made you go "huh?" comes together and you realize what just happened in the book you read.

As for the art, that's a little easier to talk about without revealing anything.  The cover unlike many books is a very accurate indication of the kind of art you're in store for.  It's really fantastic artwork and let me tell you, it fits this story so perfect it's scary.  As with the story itself, some things especially with colors might throw you off at first, but by the end every little nuance will make sense.

Brilliant.  Absolutely brilliant is how I would describe this book.  I haven't come across a book that blew my mind like this in some time.  Honestly, that's why I chose to not lead off with the summary from Dark Horse because it would kill the feeling you get at the end.  Do yourself a huge favor and get this book when it comes out, it will be completely worth it.

If you absolutely feel the need to read the summary, it can be found here, but I refuse to put it out in the open in the review.
