When 151 critters appear on earth all with a variety of
weird, wild powers, it’s up to two teenagers to figure out where they came from
and how to save them from an world that doesn’t understand them…all the while
having a ton of fun in the process!
Even though I’m still not personally a fan of this genre,
I was still curious enough to want to read this next issue. I know it probably has a lot to do with it
just being obscenely adorable and you can’t help but love it. I also appreciate the original take on the
genre that Capture Creatures has gone for and I’m always up for a neat twist on
things.
At the very end of issue one, we were introduced to the
first of presumably many of these fantastical creatures. In this next chapter we see a lot of
interaction with our unusual group of people now exploring the island where
these creatures are sprouting up. We
also of course get to see even more new creatures, and the interesting ways
they react to each other.
With even more of the lineup of creatures being brought
in, we get to see Dreistadt bring them to life.
Yet again, her style is just so wonderfully suited to this imaginative story. Even with some serious tones to this issue,
the cuteness is retained somehow. It’ll
be fun to continue seeing more designs in future books.
While I’m still not taking the step into becoming a so to
speak “fan” of this kind of book, it’s admittedly fun regardless. I think these stories are an excellent idea
to offer to anyone that loves Pokemon and the like. This is just starting and now is a good time
to check it out no matter if you’re a fan or just want a simple and enjoyable
book to read.
