Charles Dickens’s holiday classic, A Christmas Carol, is given
a fresh twist—with a female Scrooge! Rod Espinosa (The Courageous Princess)
adapts and illustrates this story of the miserly Eliza Scrooge, who is visited
by the ghosts of the past, present, and future on one fateful Christmas eve.
The Good
Out of all the Xmas classics, A Christmas Carol has always been
my favorite, and The Night That Changed the Life of Eliza Scrooge is a great
variation. The story is very well paced
and does a wonderful job of including all the key points you’d expect to
see. I really felt that everything which
needed to be included to make this a good adaptation was there.
The Bad
All in all I really could not find anything that I wasn’t
pleased with in this book.
The Summary
Anyone that enjoys Christmas stories, especially A Christmas
Carol, should definitely add this to their collection. Rod Espinosa certainly changes up the well
known tale, but still keeps true enough to the original to honor it. Even if you don’t read this during the
holidays, it’s one you will enjoy.
