The Doberman, one of the world's greatest heroes, has been killed...but by whom? And where has his former sidekick, the Rottweiler, been? Will he avenge his mentor's death?

It might just be me, but I almost seem to be noticing a trend lately.  I refer specifically to Action Lab, and a more frequent number of superhero stories.  That isn't necessarily a bad thing, as they've all for the most part been really quite good.  Opening up the first issue of Stray, I prayed this would continue being the case.

This first issue of Stray starts as a pretty typical story of the hero Doberman training a young boy, in this case his son, to be the next defender of justice.  Jump to the present, where it appears in the years since the flashback that Doberman is still protecting the streets even into his 50s.  His son, who coined himself Rottweiler, does not appear to be, and instead is living the club life.  When he finds out his father has been murdered, how will this affect him?

On the artistic side of things, this was a wonderfully illustrated book.  Every single page was gorgeous, with super clean lineart and super strong colors.  Yes, I overused super because it's that good, and because it's a superhero book.  Even though there wasn't a whole lot of action this time, I'm sure there will be later on that will be just as excellent.

While the story was not way out there and different, and a little predictable, I still enjoyed reading this.  More so honestly for the art, but the tale it told wasn't bad, just nothing spectacular  It's too early to say what more could happen though, and I'd be willing to take a further look as issues come out.
