Crazy Dave—the babbling-yet-brilliant inventor and
top-notch neighborhood defender—helps his niece, Patrice, and young adventurer
Nate Timely fend off Zomboss’s latest attack in Plants vs. Zombies:
Timepocalypse! This new, standalone tale will tickle your funny bones and
thrill . . . your brains!
I’ve always loved seeing two of my favorite things get
combined – video games and comics. There
have been some pretty awesome adaptations of games over the years. I guess I shouldn’t be surprised in this day
and age that what started as a mobile game would eventually join the ranks. As one of the few mobile games I’ve put any considerable
amount of time in, and a fun one to make a comic, I was actually eager to read Plants
vs Zombies: Timepocalypse.
For those that don’t know the game, it’s exactly what it
sounds like, with you fending off against hordes of various types of zombies using
different plants that have all sorts of abilities. Many of those plants, zombie types, as well
as Crazy Dave make their appearance here along with some other characters to
round the crew. There is a direct correlation
to PvZ 2, as that game had the time travel storyline as well, and this book allowed
that to be expanded upon nicely.
The artistic style of the game translates perfectly into
the comic, and that was definitely taken advantage of here. The bright and vibrant plants, zombies, and
all the different backdrops featured in the book were fantastic. It was really a treat getting to see the “action”
of the game migrated onto the printed (or digital) page.
Even if you’ve never played Plants vs Zombies, this is
just such a funny and easy to follow book that it really doesn’t matter. You’ll definitely get more enjoyment out of
it if you have, especially the second game.
Either way, this is one that pretty much anyone can thoroughly enjoy and
should be on your next pull list.
