Feathers 1

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 1:00 PM

A recluse boy born covered in feathers must help his first-ever friend, a young girl named Bianca, as she tries to return to her home beyond the slums of the Maze. They must dodge street gangs and child-snatchers along the way, and perhaps together will learn the secrets to his mysterious past.

Being different is a theme that many of us can relate to.  In this instance though, it’s a certain kind of different that is not exactly something we can directly understand.  Even so, this fantastic new story that is being told with Feathers is one that still manages to be endearing and relatable.

On one side of this tale, we have the feathered young lad Poe, abandoned as a baby and raised by the kind man who found him.  Living in the Maze aka the poor part of the city, he is a free spirit who goes exploring at every opportunity he gets.  On the other side, of both the story and city, we have the equally spirited young lady Bianca.  When their paths cross by sheer chance, their biggest adventure barely just begins.

Not only was I very intrigued with the story, but the art also grabbed me.  With a good amount of the book set in the dark of night and the alleys of the city, the visuals still stood out strong.  Along with all the great art of the city itself and the other characters, Poe in particular as you’d imagine was a really fun design.

As this is only the first book in the title, I have a feeling that Feathers is going to be a wonderful book to keep reading.  It’s really fun and hits all the right notes to be a meaningful story as it continues.  I for one would like to keep going as they are released and would suggest the same for fellow readers.
