For the world’s most valuable, dangerous, or secretive
cargo, you don’t call just any trucking service . . . You call THE GHOST FLEET.
When one of the world’s most elite combat-trained truckers takes a forbidden
peek at his payload, he uncovers a conspiracy that will change his life
forever! A new series of badass action on the open road begins here!
I don’t often find that I run into a book that’s completely like anything else I’ve read before. Typically, it’s got something that reminds me of another monster tale or a hero’s quest. When it comes to the story of The Ghost Fleet though, I can’t say I’ve experienced a book like it before. That right there lent itself to interest right from the beginning and kept going to the end.
The story initially goes into a brief historical
flashback into the so to speak origins of the “ghost fleet” operation. Once we start the real story though, things
escalate very rapidly. It seems to start
off as just a high risk, heavily guarded trucking operation. Completely normal for the most part
right? As the story progresses we see
that this particular run was far from normal, most especially the cargo. Although we don’t see what it is exactly,
it’s like something out of X-Files and highly dangerous.
So far the artwork has been pretty good, painting a clear
albeit insanely violent picture of this story.
The sheer brutality of some of the scenes was done beautifully, if
that’s the appropriate word. The rougher
style of linework fits really well in this book, adding to the grittier feel
for things. I was quite pleased with the
movement in all the action scenes, especially those involving the plethora of
vehicular mayhem.
With this quite original book filled with action,
violence and mystery, my curiosity is definitely piqued. I’d really like to see where this goes past
the madness already laid out in the first issue. If you’re looking for a brand new book that
doesn’t look like it’s going to slow down, this seems like a good one to
grab. I certainly want to know what the
hell was in the truck.
