Hero Cats 1

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 9:00 AM

Avengers and Justice League move over! The cutest heroes on the planet have arrived! Meet the Hero Cats of Stellar City in this spectacular first issue. Not your ordinary house cats, they're a tactical action-packed covert team dealing with extraordinary threats to humanity in ways that will amaze.

Most everyone at one time or another has wanted to be a superhero at some point.  Hell, some of us still try to look like one a few times (or more) a year at various cons.  For a select group of felines in Hero Cats, being a hero is reality and not fantasy.  They’re about the last thing you’d expect to be a force behind stopping crime, but it works in the most adorable way.

I am 100% a cat person.  I am a huge Action Lab comics fan.  I also happen to like superheroes.  Somehow, these have all managed to come together in this delightful first issue of cats vs criminals.  The majority of the book spends time giving us brief “bios” on the heroic team of kitties, giving most of the spotlight of course to our main companion Cassiopeia aka Cassie.  Although it’s not blatantly stated, some info at the end of the book also seems to hint at how this group of above average animals came to be what they are.

I really enjoyed the artwork that accompanied the enjoyable story.  Maybe a big part of it was getting to see a book full of cute cats.  That bias aside though, the art is drawn and colored wonderfully, giving us a very nice view of the day to day adventures in Stellar City.

Through and through, this is just such a fun story to read that it can appeal to virtually anyone.  Whether you’re a cat person doesn’t really matter as it endearing enough to turn you into one.  I’d love to see more of these little guys, and is definitely a title that should be picked up.  It’s a completely worthwhile replacement for at least 2 or 3 of those cat videos you watch at work.
