Scott Winslow is making a killing in England. As he plies his trade as star goalkeeper for
up & coming East London club Lewisham United, he moonlights as a serial
murderer terrorizing the public with a body count in double digits. Inspector Rahne O'Connell and her squad at
Scotland Yard are on the case, but will they figure it out before Scott racks
up more victims than clean sheets?
Having had the opportunity to check out the zero issue, I was
able to pick up the first full book knowing what I was getting into. Or at least, I had a much better idea
anyways, of the escapades of a serial killer soccer player. Quite a unique story for sure, but this story
that Keeper tells pulls it off.
The sports star from the states has been on quite a thrill
ride, both on and off the field. When he
isn’t stopping goal attempts, he’s carving another victim into his list –
literally. Unbeknownst to Scott though,
his habits have been leaving breadcrumbs across the UK that has now been
discovered. The heat is going to be on,
and the walls will probably be closing in soon.
I wasn’t too sure what to think of the artwork from the
teaser issue when I read it. Now having
had the chance to read more here, I’m growing more ok with it. It sort of has a looser, watercolor feel to
it, which you don’t see much. The only
thing that throws me off sometimes is character faces, but that’s not enough to
really make a huge deal of.
Darker stories, especially those of serial killers, have
always intrigued me. Put that together
with the killer masquerading as someone in the limelight, and that’s an even
better concept. I had thought this was
worth checking out from the intro book, and can now say it is still proving to
be.
