The Dungeon

Posted by Katie on 1:00 PM

Deep within the bowels of the Dungeon, paradise bred. It was a place where the rejected were welcomed, safe, isolated, yet highly exclusive. If there were a place where sin could live in heaven, it would be called Castle Deyshaud. Possessed by an evil supernatural entity, protected by a fascist security force of werewolves known as the Ookami, the structure whose walls granted men the most amazing talents, gifts and abilities to anyone inside could make the weakest man strong, the fattest man fit, and change the most hideous to the most desired. That was until the impossible happened. One dark soul mastered the magic of the Dungeon against its most powerful warriors and killed them while masquerading as one of their own. In the ultimate plan of domination, one being would gain control of the Dungeon’s power in an attempt to become a god and rule hell on Earth with help from an ever-growing zombie militia.

Now the most unlikely trio must find the killer…before their world goes to hell.

Get laced.
Get bit.
Get Enraged.
Get Control.
Get Religion.
Get Power.
Get whipped...

Prepare as all genres are crossed as the most unlikely trio fight dragons, vampires, werewolves, elves, and zombies, because It hurts to feel good in "The Dungeon".

The Good
This is certainly interesting in the way it manages to blend together fantasy, sci-fi and more into one book.  I can imagine it must be tough to try to work with multiple genres, but The Dungeon pulls it off.  I’m always up for something out of the norm so to speak and that is definitely what you’ll expect to get.

The Bad
I admittedly had a bit of trouble trying to figure out what was going on with the story on the first read through.  After I skimmed over it again, I managed to piece it together better.  This was just the first issue though, so I’m giving it the benefit of the doubt.

The Summary
It’s a very unique combination of different genres, so it should appeal to a wide variety of readers.  From what I’ve read so far, it has promise in the issues to come.  There is plenty of room for more character build up and story development and I’d like to see where it goes.
