The Witcher: Fox Children 1

Posted by Geek-o-Rama Admin on 8:00 AM

Geralt’s journey leads him aboard a ship of fools, renegades, and criminals—but some passengers are more dangerous than others, and one hides a hideous secret!

With the third game in the popular title coming out soon, it's no surprise to see more from the comics.  I had a great time reading through volume one and was definitely on board for another set of books.  This time, we take a look at book one of The Witcher: Fox Children and see what Geralt is up to now.

Geralt and his apparent new dwarven companion find themselves convinced to join a group of mercenaries.  It isn't until well after setting sail that they realize the situation they've gotten into.  A vulpess (aka she-fox transformed only from elves) recently abducted a young elven heiress.  The group's goal is to get her back, but Geralt quickly makes it evident how futile this mission will be especially with how this chapter ends.

Artist Joe Querio is back again in this series taking the world of Witcher and putting it on paper.  While we haven't broken into the dark and likely pretty scary part of this tale, the artwork still feels right for the story.  It just feels like the kind of art that goes with a story that was taken from the content of a hack n slash rpg.

I was already pretty interested in the new game, but reading this new Witcher series comic only serves to increase that interest.  What's really nice is that like with the game, you don't necessarily have to read the other comics to enjoy this one.  No matter your level of knowledge with the series, this is looking like another good book to pick up for the run.
